Farming sustainably – in their own words

In 2017 we worked with Macroom E and the Environmental Protection Agency) to deliver a digital storytelling project around environmental sustainability in West Cork.

This was the first digital storytelling project of its kind with the agricultural sector in Ireland. The farmers from the four Carbery Co-ops (Barryroe, Bandon, Drinagh and Lisavaird) recorded their environmental sustainability experiences, entirely in their own words and without direction, to help inspire and influence  fellow farmers.

The farmers involved in the digital storytelling project are also members of the Carbery Greener Dairy Farms™ programme.

We launched Greener Dairy Farms™ in 2012: an innovative, dairy efficiency programme designed to measure, monitor and optimise resource allocation and best practice on farm.

One of the key highlights from the programme to date has been a 15% reduction in the carbon footprint between 2012 and 2016.
